Women of Walsall

I have been commissioned by the Living Memory Project to run a project in Walsall around raising the visibility of women in Walsall. Working closely with Walsall for all I set up a photography studio at a number of community events in the city and invited local women, across the city to participate in the project. This work will be presented as a screen projection alongside of archival images of women of Walsall. Examples of this include, images of women and labour, (to use the archival reference name), machine girls, women stitching leather in the leather factory, glove makers, female Library staff, a beauty queen, the local swimming team, the first bus conductor and first mayor, and historical figures such as Sister Dora. The work will be exhibited at a public event in the city to celebrate international women’s day 2020.
